The highly anticipated Game Awards winners have finally been announced, and the gaming world’s most prestigious awards have found their recipients. This special night, where the games that left their mark on 2025 competed fiercely, saw both surprising results and expected victories. The ceremony, where independent games challenged big-budget titles, also highlighted the changing dynamics in the industry.
The Game Awards Winners and the Star of the Night
The undisputed star of the night was Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, which won a record number of awards. Developed by Sandfall Interactive, this turn-based RPG not only won “Game of the Year” but also topped critical categories such as Best Game Direction, Best Narrative, and Best Art Direction. Jennifer English, the game’s lead actress, crowned her success by winning Best Performance.
Another notable award at the ceremony was the long-awaited Hollow Knight: Silksong. Team Cherry’s game delighted fans by winning the Best Action/Adventure Game award. In the action category, Supergiant Games’ beloved sequel, Hades II, took the top spot. Both titles received top marks from the jury for their gameplay mechanics and art design.
Nintendo’s fun game, Donkey Kong Bananza, took home the Best Family Game award, while strategy game enthusiasts opted for Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles. Battlefield 6 also proved its technical prowess with the Best Sound Design award, and No Man’s Sky was awarded Best Ongoing for its years of support.
